As above, so below

We're going vertical....here are a few photos of the work in progress....the Grove, one of the Charleston inspired, 'free-standing townhomes' in the center of Cadence Circle, is being framed and the foundation of the Maple on the hill, one of the craftsman style homes, is being laid....we expect to have both completed by or before April of next year. Both designs reflect Brevard's architectural history.

Accompanying this change of altitude, are cool evenings and mornings, suggesting the beginning of the change of seasons. Check back for updates of current conditions and predictions from the National Forests of North Carolina, http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/.
Here's their Weekly Fall Color Update 08/28/09:
"Year in and year out, the last two weeks in October are usually the best time to view fall colors on the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests. However, due to the wide variations in elevation and the incredible diversity of tree species, it is not unusual for "leaf lookers" to start seeing the first hint of fall color in the the Southern Appalachians higher elevations ( above 5,000 feet) in late September and early October.
In October, as nighttime temperatures drop and light frosts occur, fall color usually starts showing up on exposed ridgelines and works its way down to the mountain valleys by the end of October. Good color can often linger in the valleys and protected south facing slopes well into November."

Mountain Song Festival

The Brevard Music Center's season has ended, but the venue will soon go live with the Mountain Song Festival, September 11 - 12, the 4th annual music event that benefits The Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County. The festival has drawn some of the best performers in bluegrass and acoustical music, including the legendary Doc Watson. Returning to the stage this year, following last year's surprise performance, Steve Martin will be playing banjo with host band, the Steep Canyon Rangers. To find out who else is performing & more go to: http://www.mountainsongfestival.com/.

this will make a cool weekend to visit Brevard. while you're here, check out the construction underway at Cadence Point!

Fall in love with Brevard!

Keith Lockhart, conductor of the Boston Pops & alumnus of Brevard Music Center, did! He's returned for his second summer as Artistic Advisor & Principal Conductor at BMC, which is in full swing through August 9th. I was there last Friday eve and enjoyed the wonderful music in the lush green setting & cool night air. Come experience it for yourself....Maybe you'll fall in love, too, as did our first buyers at Cadence Point, who after coming here for the Music Center the past seven summers decided Brevard is where they wanted to live.
If you're planning to visit the mountains of Western North Carolina, we're happy to show you the best of Brevard, which includes Cadence Point. We have a few tickets to several of the performances we're happy to comp you, so let us know when you're coming.
